BMW X7 vs INFINITI QX80 Performance Capabilities
It all starts with what’s under the hood. Drivers demand power when it comes to a luxury SUV, and it’s nice to have choices too. The BMW X7 has both. With the entry-level BMW X7 V6 engine, you’ll be piloting a vehicle that delivers up to 335 horsepower. This engine is mated to an 8-speed STEPTRONIC Automatic transmission, which shifts efficiently and provides a smooth performance. This engine also delivers an EPA-estimated 20 city/25 highway MPG.
If you choose the INFINITI QX80, you only have one engine—a V8 that produces 400 horsepower. However, its MPG ratings don’t come close to the BMW X7 V6 engine. The INFINITI QX80 has an EPA-estimated 14 city/20 highway MPG.
The BMW X7 also comes with an available V8 engine that’s more powerful than its competitor’s V8. The available 4.4L TwinPower Turbo V8 engine on the X7 xDrive50i pushes out 456 horsepower, which far surpasses the INFINITI QX80 V8. So, when you want power, choices, and better fuel efficiency, choose the BMW X7.
Interior Luxury You’ll Love
Step inside these SUVs, and you’ll immediately see what makes them luxury models. Both models come standard with leather-appointed seats, which gives the cabin that luxurious feel you’re looking for. However, only the BMW X7 comes with standard 16-way power front seats, giving you the flexibility to set the seats up the way you want. The INFINITI QX80 only offers a standard 10-way power driver’s seat—well behind the BMW X7 in terms of capability.
It’s worth noting, too, that the X7 comes standard with automatic 4-zone climate control. Not only will those up front be able to set a personalized temperature, but the second and third rows will too. The INFINITI QX80 only offers tri-zone automatic temperature control, so both the second and third rows have to share climate control settings.
BMW’s Live Cockpit Professional is a technological marvel of sorts, with a pair of 12.3-inch displays leading the way. The multi-input iDrive 7.0 system can be operated by voice, touchscreen, and the iDrive touchpad controller found in your X7. This advanced system optimizes information about the X7 and can project key information using available Head-up Display technology.
The INFINITI QX80 carries upper and lower full-color touchscreens, but they only measure in at eight and seven inches, respectively. There’s no system comparable to BMW’s Live Cockpit Professional in the INFINITI QX80.
Drivers will have access to Apple CarPlay® in both models, though. This helpful feature allows you to connect a compatible smartphone to your vehicle for access to popular apps, music, and more.
